Hey great vid. Ques. If I wanted to get a 2 piece front lip or valence ( not sure how its called lol) of a car into carbon fiber and i would provide you with the valence would u make? me a carbon fiber version of it?? If so, how much? Thank you

@kleyny1 Its Known ...
@kleyny1 Its Known as high elongation bag film, its very stretchy? material, you can find it from avt composites

@ahkjak what type ...
@ahkjak what type of plastic is the bag made from? ?

This is? very ...
This is? very instructive and exactly what I was looking for. Thank you very, very much.

This would work ...
This would work for? making longboards right?

Do you happen to ...
Do you happen to know the PSI range that should be used in vacuum bagging? I talked to a carbon fiber supplier and was told if you? use too much PSI than it could leave holes but he did not tell me the range to use.

Sounds like a lot ...
Sounds like a lot of work in the background.? This must have been made before NAFTA and GATT exported all our work to China.

@YAMR1M Agreed,? I ...
@YAMR1M Agreed,? I am not sure where he thinks all the pressure is coming from. He obviously doesn't understand that the pressure is coming from the atmosphere

Thanks For The ...
Thanks For The replies, the foam used is baltek/ airex foam.? we use the baltek perforated type that is 1/8" thick, which is good for shaping, hope that helps

ahkjak, great video ...
ahkjak, great video and thank you for the tutorial. Question what type of harden foam did you use in this video.? Thanks in advance for the assistance.

@endowed1 The pump ...
@endowed1 The pump can be as big or as powerful as you want but you cannot go below 14.5Psi of pressure on that part as 14.5psi is atmospheric pressure and absoulute vacuum will only give 14.5 psi of force on the outside of the bag and for more pressure you need to use an autoclave with positive pressure applied over the air evacuated bag. BUT.... Apart from that the vid is good.. Although using a release film between the peel ply and breather cloth does? help.

Great job.?
Great job.?

dude great video ...
dude great video were trying to build a 4 foot carbon fibor hydrofoil (wing) for a senoir project all these? videos are mad useful thanks

That looks like a? ...
That looks like a? Robinair vacuum pump...

He says 700 psi but ...
He says 700 psi but I think he means? 700 pounds pressure over the whole thing. You can only generate atmospheric pressure (~14.5 psi) on a part using vacuum.

Thanks? for sharing ...
Thanks? for sharing, good info here.

Great video! Thank ...
Great video! Thank you for posting it!!?

s**tty video; ...
s**tty video; s**tty quality parts. wtf is? the foam in the middle of the carbon layers?! its called "being cheap.." - how the f**k is that gonna help ventilate my hotass engine?!

Great info?
Great info?

What kind of foam ...
What kind of foam are you? using? Thank you.

great video. I ...
great video. I haven't? gotten into carbon yet, does it wet out as easily? BTW, you can't produce more vacuum than 14.4 or so #/Sq Inch at sea level. the sum total of your piece may be under a total of more than 700 pounds of squeeze, but not every square inch. i know it's nit picky, but i'm nit picky

I know where? to ...
I know where? to get #1 vacuum pumps but 'm not telling a*****es.

He is very correct ...
He is very correct on his math. I know my? vacume pump will pull 23"of Hg The total pressure can be calculated by the vacuum pressure (in Hg) multiplied by .5. Then multiply this number by the total square inches of one platen. Therefore, if you are applying 23" of Hg to a platen that is 6"L x 12"W, the calculation is as follows: 23 x .5 x72= 828 pounds of force. vacume it a verry powerful thing!

Forget? the ...
Forget? the internet clowns.. thanks for the vid!

@MotoGP666 Look! ...
@MotoGP666 Look! this is just an informative video to give people an idea of what is involved with a vacuum bag layup because when i started working with carbon i discovered information was scarce and i? learned alot through trial and error, and i figured i could help people out , I Am Not Selling anything here, so lets forget the pump because its not for sale! You obviously dont have any knowledge in this area because you are looking at a tiny pump and assuming its powerless, WRONG!

Mate, 700psi is not ...
Mate, 700psi is not going to happen using your pump!! Dumb Yank.... Classic. ?

if i know you ...
if i know you skipped a few steps it means that it is no secret what the steps are.? people who ask what and why about CFM just don't know how to search the internet.

@endowed1 ah ok ...
@endowed1 ah ok im just askin no nuthin about that kinda? stuff

@RomanVale well I'm ...
@RomanVale well I'm not here to sell any of my? carbon products or supplies, i put this together to help people that would like to try this for themselves and/or see whats involved, You May call me a dumb yank or any other name for that matter, I have made quite a living here in the USA by building some of the baddest and most high profile drag race cars in the world . 700 pounds of clamping pressure per square inch, there are vacuum pumps that can do three times that! Wanker!!
